Workshop Overview
This workshop has been developed to provide delegates with a working knowledge
of "managing people". Several management theories are introduced and discussed
and delegates are given the opportunity to try out new ideas in the workshop
environment. The workshop covers the fundamental skills required by a manager
and will give the delegates the confidence and ability to lead others on their
return to work.
Workshop Objectives
After participating in the above workshop delegates will:-
- Be able to give a practical definition of the role of a manager along with
the qualities and skills required by an effective manager
- Understand the difference between a manager and a leader
- Understand the different leadership styles and when it is appropriate to
use each style
- Be aware of their own preferred leadership style
- Understand the importance of - and how to give and receive - feedback to
and from others
- Know what motivates people to perform
- Be able to set motivating goals for themselves and with others
- Understand the importance of delegating and the most effective way to do it
- Be able to effectively coach colleagues and staff in new skills in order
to offer personal development to others and to enable themselves to delegate
effectively

The above workshop will be of great benefit to anyone whose role involves people
management, whether they be managers, team leader, supervisors or section heads.
New and potential managers will find the workshop gives them a thorough grounding
in the subject of people management. Experienced managers who would welcome
additional training as a refresher will also benefit from this workshop.
